This past Monday night Coach Kris and Coach Paco were given the Westport Sports Persons of the Year award from The Fairfield County Sports Commission for the Boys and Girls 2019 Teams. A well deserved award for their dedication and continued successes with the Staples HS Tennis programs!!!

The Sports Persons of the Year Award is awarded to the individuals who had the greatest positive impact and contribution to each of the 16 sports communities for that year. Nominations come from the Sports Commission’s 16 local town representatives who create a selection with members from each of their communities.

Both teams were recognized for their 2019 State Titles- boys team for their 4th consecutive state tile win and girls team for their 2nd consecutive state title win. Individual/Doubles State Titles and CT Open wins were also mentioned. This year was the 15th anniversary of the Fairfield County Sports Commission presentation of the Annual Sport Night Awards Dinner and was the first time a Staples Tennis Team has been honored.

Congratulations to Coach Kris and to the boys… they all contributed to the success of the team and to the winning history of the SHS Boys Tennis Program!!
