Kris Hrisovulos, (203) 979-0885
Kris Hrisovulos ’00 – a former soccer and tennis star at Staples, has guided the Wreckers to six Connecticut State Class LL Championships (2011, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) and five FCIAC Championships (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018) through 10 seasons as the Head Coach of the Staples boys tennis program. Hrisovulos has compiled a 195-10 (.951) career coaching record. His Wreckers have had four undefeated seasons (21-0) in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018, a 63 match team winning streak (2016-2019), three Connecticut State Class LL runners-up in 2012, 2013 and 2015, and ten straight FCIAC final appearances from 2010-2019.
In 2014 Hrisovulos was named FCIAC Coach of the Year as Staples went 21-0 in its run to winning both the State Class LL and FCIAC Championships. This was only the second time in program history where the team won both Class LL and FCIAC titles in the same year, the last time was 1982. This feat was repeated again in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Hrisovulos has gone onto coach a Connecticut State Singles Champion three times (D. Hirschberg twice and E. Felcher) and three Connecticut State Doubles Champions (C. Mitnick/B. Stein, J.Moskovitz/M.Zimmerman, R.Daus/T.Brunetti) as well as four Connecticut State Doubles runners-up (J. Hirschberg/G. Hyman, E. Davis/J. Reardon, J.Greenwald/J.Tooker, E.Greenberg/J.Tooker).
Hrisovulos played Division I tennis at Niagara University and graduated with a BA in business and sports management. As a player at Staples (1997-2000) he was part of three State Championships, two FCIAC Championships, 82 game team winning streak, and was an All-State doubles player in 1999.
Hrisovulos is also the Director of Player Development at Intensity Tennis in Norwalk, CT all year round where he works with both High Performance and Junior Development players.
