Congratulations to FCIAC Boys Tennis Coach of the Year 2014 – Kris Hrisovulos!

Kris Hrisovulos ’00 – a former soccer and tennis star at Staples, has guided the Wreckers to two Connecticut State Class LL Championships (2011, 2014) and one FCIAC Championship (2014), through 5 seasons as the Head Coach of the Staples boys tennis program. Hrisovulos has compiled a 95-6 (.941) career coaching record. His Wreckers had an undefeated season (21-0) in 2014, two Connecticut State Class LL runners-up in 2012 and 2013, and five straight FCIAC final appearances from 2010-2014.

krisIn 2014 Hrisovulos was named FCIAC Coach of the Year as Staples went 21-0 in its run to winning both the State Class LL and FCIAC Championships. This was only the second time in program history where the team won both Class LL and FCIAC titles in the same year, the last time was 1982. Hrisovulos has gone onto coach a Connecticut State Singles Champion twice (D. Hirschberg) and a Connecticut State Doubles Champions (C. Mitnick / B. Stein) as well as two Connecticut State Doubles runners-up (J. Hirschberg / G. Hyman, E. Davis / J. Reardon).

Hrisovulos played Division I tennis at Niagara University and graduated with a BA in business and sports management. As a player at Staples (1996-2000) he was part of three State Championships, two FCIAC Championships, 82 game team winning streak, and was an All-State doubles player in 1999.
